Bytes Systems Integration promotes innovation, adaptability at Cisco ExpoBytes Systems Integration, the Cisco Gold Certified Partner, sponsored the recent two-day Cisco Expo 2011 held at Sun City which was well attended by 850 technical and business delegates from across corporate South Africa. Bytes Systems Integration is part of Bytes Technology Group, wholly owned by JSE-listed Altron. Altron Group chief executive officer, Robbie Venter, delivered the keynote address about business model innovation and the adaptability of businesses in ever changing market conditions that set the tone for the expo. "Business model innovation and the art of being resilient in the fast changing world in which we find ourselves today is a harsh reality," he says. "Optimisation and reinvention are essential in order to survive." Sponsorship of the event demonstrated a clear and present commitment to global cooperation and collaboration between Cisco and Bytes Systems Integration. It delivered a successful executive Business Forum delivering value around the global alliance and partnership between Cisco, NetApp and VMware offering the market the validated Flexpod design. The Business Forum was also supported by a presentation delivered by John Rollason, senior manager: products, solutions and alliances for EMEA for NetApp. Bytes Systems Integration's unique methodology "Beyond Conversation" was also explained in terms of how Bytes can remove the complexities from the journey to the cloud, be it private, public or hybrid. Topics discussed at the expo included borderless networks, unified communications, virtualisation, IP-NGN (next generation network), design, and specific Cisco technologies and solutions. Bytes Systems Integration showcased four technologies. Kronos capability to integrate disparate security systems to each other as well as into ERP and HR solutions. Xerox Cloud ITO Services via Cisco UCS and Vblock Infrastructure: accelerates the rollout of new IT services to adapt to changing needs of the workforce and reduce IT costs through a private cloud, the public cloud or through a combination in a hybrid cloud environment. These cloud services from ACS include infrastructure as a service (IaaS), cloud consulting, and private cloud deployments. Bytes Systems Integration Process Management & Control demonstrated how equipment, raw material, intermediate and final product can be tracked accurately in a real time industrial environment using wireless and industrial automation technology. "All these technologies were integrated through our FlexPod, which is a revalidated data centre solution built on a flexible, shared infrastructure that can scale easily, be optimised for a variety of mixed application workloads, or be configured for virtual desktop or server infrastructure, secure multi-tenancy, or cloud environments," says Patrick Hastings, divisional MD, Advanced Technology Services at Bytes Systems Integration. "FlexPod delivers leading computing, networking, storage, and infrastructure software components." While businesses must adapt in order to survive, says Hastings, like Google's recent diversification into the mobile operating system arena, they need the underlying systems that allow their processes to mould to the occasion.
