Bytes's Tiley scoops NetApp Outstanding Contribution award

Malcolm Tiley, divisional manager: technology storage, at Bytes Technology Group, has been acknowledged for his work done with NetApp with an award in the NetApp Outstanding Contribution category. The award was made at the NetApp EMEA partner gala dinner at Prague's Industrial Palace towards the end of 2010.

Tiley was one of two South Africans among the major winners as NetApp acknowledged the work done by its partners. Andre Swanepoel of Westcon was the other partner to win an award. "These awards are for partners who work with dedication and passion," says Carl McQuillan, vice-president EMEA for Professional Services at NetApp. "They have significant impact on both the NetApp technical team and on our customers. They are special people."

Other notable African wins included Olumuyiwa Ojo from Dimension Data Nigeria for Best Architectural Win; Vijay Kanumuru from Computer Point in Uganda for Best Integration of NetApp Features; and Joao Miguel from Integrated Solutions in Angola for Best Win with a Go To Market Partner.

"I have been involved in providing NetApp solutions in South Africa for 10 years," says Tiley. "Storage is among the fastest growing areas of our business. Our customer engagements are driven largely by average recovery times and disaster recovery strategies. In recent months we have been intensely involved at Eskom, Bytes Managed Solutions, AutoPage, DHS and Development Bank of Southern Africa. We have focused on data availability, with an average of 99,97% in our enterprise accounts."

NetApp has been named by Gartner in its latest Magic Quadrant Report as the most visionary market leader in the Midrange and High-End Modular Disk Array marketplace.

"This is very important to us, as we have a market-leading product offering, and can provide all the services, design, deploy and manage it," adds Tiley. "NetApp plays a vital role in our virtualisation strategy. We have taken our Imagine Virtually Anything approach to market and are busy working on a number of opportunities."
